Lying on the left bank of the river which is called the same way, MUNDAKA, the town was mentioned for the first time in 1050 relating its curch dependant from San Juan de la Peña. We can therefore get an idea about its age, also because it had an important place at the Casa de Juntas (The assembly House) in Gernika.
By road it si situated 40 Km from Bilbao, 90 Km from Donostia-San Sebastian and another 90 Km from Vitoria-Gasteiz. 22Km from the A-8, near Amorebieta Etxano, we take the Bi-635 in the direction of Gernika-Lumo Bermeo.Through Mungia we take the Bi-631 in the direction of Bermeo.
The airport of Loiu is 25km away.
As for public transport, the Euskotren trains and the Bizkaibus buses run almost every half hour from Bermeo to Bilbao and Bilbao to Bermeo.
